2014 NAIG Day 1 Gallery: Thousands gather at Mosaic Stadium for Opening Ceremonies
Regina, SK – The 2014 North American Indigenous Games opening ceremonies kicked off Sunday afternoon (July 20) with an impressive line up that featured performances from the Thundering Hill Dance Theatre, Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company, Plex, Crystal Shawanda, Inez and (headliner) George Leach. But it was the thousands of athletes who were front and centre receiving the biggest ovation when they marched into the stadium showing off their flags and colours and team spirit.
This week in Regina, over 4000 athletes from 21 different regions from across North America will compete in 14 different sports. Yesterday, the basketball competition also began with some games and will continue on today with the full schedule of games now available on the 2014 NAIG Website.
