The Regina 2014 North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) Host Society and its sponsorship partner SaskEnergy are issuing a Call to Volunteers. The call is for 3500 people to help out with events leading up and during the Games July 20th- 27th /2014. The call  today  also coincides with the launch of the volunteer registration portal through the Regina 2014 NAIG website.

“The Regina 2014 North American Indigenous Games are not just a celebration of  Indigenous youth, sport, and culture. The Games are also about cooperation and building communities. The answer we get to the call will no doubt showcase those values which the people in this province share. We are extremely proud to have SaskEnergy on board with us to help with a project of  this magnitude and we are looking forward to working with them”, says Regina 2014 NAIG CEO Glen Pratt.

Manager of  Aboriginal Affairs, Gillis Lavalley with SaskEnergy adds “ As Saskatchewan’s Champion of  Volunteers, we know  our community investment is worthwhile;  volunteers are, undoubtedly, the driving force behind the success of any major event in our province, but this is especially so for  events of  the scale and caliber  required to host the North American Indigenous Games.”

Regina 2014 NAIG will host the athletes and teams from 26 regions in North America’s Indigenous communities as they compete in 15 different sports. It will celebrate and share North American Indigenous cultures through a showcase of language, tradition, art, song, dance and ceremonies. The theme of the Regina 2014 North American Indigenous Games is “Raising the Bar” and we will do this by exhibiting youth excellence in sports and culture.
