Carmichael Outreach Hosts Hockey Day for Youth
Regina, SK – Even though it was sunny on Saturday, you could still feel the bite of a minus 20 windchill after being outside for 5 minutes. But there were a dozen kids that didn’t let the cold bother them. They chose to come out and play street hockey instead of staying home playing video games.
Tyler Grey is the housing coordinator and says gives co-worker Nic Olson the credit for the hockey scrum being played in the parking lot behind the centre.
Grey says, “Any chance we can get as staff to get together with the clients outside of the Monday to Friday tasks is great, because these are the people we work for.”
He adds, for the people who come to Carmichael’s, “it’s friendship and relationships, it’s their community. It’s good to come out on a Saturday for a lunch and a place to warm up.”
