RezX Recipes: Cedar Tea for Colds courtesy of Aaron Tootoosis “The Office Medicine Man”
Editor’s note: We’re proud to continue our RezX Recipes section with another recipe, this time from guest blogger, Aaron Tootoosis who is known more for his political posts on facebook than his medicine tea. But he was kind enough to pass on his medicine tea recipe, enjoy!
Want to be an office medicine man/woman? Here is a step-by-step guide to make a good cup of cedar tea, a tea used for centuries by our ancestors to battle the common cold and many other ailments, but with a modern twist.
Here are the things you will need:
- A Keurig machine.
- Refillable k-cups.
- Cedar tree leaves.
- A spoon or small scoop.
Here are the steps to follow:
1. You will first need to prepare the cedar leaves at home. Separate the leaves from the stems. Crush or grind the cedar then put it in a suitable container or plastic zip bag as shown in the picture.
2. Fill your refillable k-cup with the cedar. You could say a little prayer at this time if you want.
3. Use a spoon or a scoop as shown in the picture to fill your k-cup.
4. Fill your k-cup then close it tight.
5. Place the k-cup in the machine.
6. Select your desired setting on the machine and allow it to brew.
7. For the cup in the picture, I pressed the tall cup button.
8. When your tea is done brewing, it should look like this.
9. Don’t discard the old leaves in the garbage. Take home and put back in a clean place in the wild.
Now you can feel all powerful and warrior-like in the comfort of your own office. With our ancestors at your back, you are adapting and carving the future with our old ways in your Keurig and in your coffee cup.
