What a great way to start off the summer by checking out RezX’s highly anticipated Summer Edition!
As part of RezX’s quarterly publishing schedule, the magazine returns with another standard edition that is sure to impress everyone! The cover features 2014 First Nations University of Canada (FNUniv) Pow Wow Princess, Shay McNabb of George Gordon’s First Nation. The story is written by Shane Bellegarde with photography by Ryan Peterman (Leftboot Photography) and gives readers an insight of how Shay McNabb won the coveted crown and what keeps her grounded.
When it came time to picking the cover story, RezX’s Editor-In-Chief, Chris Tyrone Ross decided Shay McNabb, “was the perfect fit because she is the perfect Real Model”.
“At RezX, we profile ‘Real Models’ which are people that young people can relate too on a more personal level…people who have not had the privileges and opportunities growing up as other youth have had, they are everyday people like you and me – but with goals and achievements that all youth can strive for”.
Although, this issue RezX also profiled the Balcarres Community School Role Model Poster Campaign, which Ross says still fits the real model concept since many are community people who have amazing accomplishments that anyone can achieve.
With National Aboriginal Day coming up, the edition also features an “Indigenous History, Present and Future” section. Readers can also expect regular columns such as Jay Bird’s ‘NDN News and Opinion’ and Bill Stevenson’s ‘Indian Horoscopes’ and more in the latest edition of RezX – which you can read right now in our digital edition that can be accessed through your smart phone or tablet. Or readers can can wait until later this week when print copies will be available – as this issue RezX has upgraded to a full colour glossy print.
