ABOUT THE METIS AWARDS
The Métis Awards were established to empower the Métis communities in Saskatchewan while also increasing the pride of a distinct cultural group who celebrate and commemorate there past leaders on an annual basis.
Through our demonstration of leadership, we have already had a great impact and will continue to do so in years to come.
The awards acknowledge and celebrate those who’ve made a positive impact on another individual, community and/or organization with an evening of great food, entertainment, stewardship and wonderful company. As well, it is with great privilege that we are able to play a small gracious part in the lives of those who are considered leaders within our communities while also building new networks, creating friendships and potentially developing lasting partnerships.
Honoring the dedication of individuals in the community, who by their very nature are hard working, will assure their place as roles models and instill the promise of a brighter future for generations to follow. We are open to anyone who may be interested in celebrating the Métis culture and leadership regardless of sex, age, ethnicity, religion, color, sexual orientation and/or physical or mental disability.
Also, soon we will have the means to provide financial support through the creation of a bursary program for all Métis women in Saskatchewan. This bursary will be specifically for women because of the demonstrated lack of support for the Métis women in southern Saskatchewan. Our goal is to empower our growing Métis nation while also improving various aspects of health.
